You might have noticed that it isn't Tuesday. But there's a blog post. What's going on?
Some very exciting news, that's what!
If you follow me on social media, you've gotten some hints about what that news is. Now it's time for me to give more specifics and make an official announcement on the blog.
I'm publishing a book!
It's a mystery novelette set in 1950s Hawaii featuring two characters that have been waiting in my head for three years.
A novelette is shorter than a novel, longer than a short story, and perfect for a quick read in today's busy schedules.
Here is the title of my book:
This isn't the official cover, but it gives you an idea of the typeface and overall feel. The (tentative) release date is August 10th, so mark your calendars. I'll be posting more announcements and updates leading up to the release, and I'll give you everything you need to know about how to get your copy of White Marbles when it's time.
The past few weeks have been full of editing, designing and formatting. We word nerds use the term “synecdoche” for the technique of using a part to represent a whole. Like “the press” for news and journalism more broadly. Calling my career “writing” is another example of this. A lot more goes into it than just getting the words out.
Yesterday, I finished uploading everything and ordered my proof copy. It's set to arrive this weekend, so stay tuned for the cover reveal!
Congratulations, Lindsay. Looking forward to getting a copy. It's a great book.
