White Marbles

The first book in my Brownwood Grove mystery series.

There isn't trouble in paradise...
...which is great for everyone but private investigators like McAllen Clark. His business is struggling, so when he gets a job offer from the wealthy owner of  Honolulu’s new Brownwood Grove Hotel, McAllen jumps on it.
At first, the job isn’t to his liking. All McAllen has to do is keep an eye on the hotel owner’s gullible younger brother who has a tendency to make all the wrong friends. Not exactly what PI dreams are made of.
When trouble finally comes in the form of a tearful young woman with a suspicious necklace, things quickly start to get a lot more interesting.

What to Do With a Writer

I have an article about encouraging young writers in the Fall 2024 issue of The Old Schoolhouse, a leading magazine for home educators. The link below will take you to the issue. My article begins on page 108.

Why do Kids Love Books but Not Literature?

My second article for The Old Schoolhouse appears in their Winter 2024-25 issue. My article is about making literature class more tolerable for reluctant students. As someone who's always loved to read but never liked formal literature courses, I speak from experience with my ideas and analysis of the topic. My article begins on page 38.
